| Our Junior Wobbler Room at Little Apples is a safe and stimulating environment where your child is free to explore |
| under the watchful supervision of our highly trained staff. |
| |
| As there are many different stages that your child will go through |
| during the early years of his/her life it is important to remember |
| that their progress is individual. In the junior wobbler room |
| we have adapted this approach so that children have the |
| freedom and support to go through different stages |
| with maximum support from our Childcare workers and |
| also through the layout of the room. |
| There are many different areas in the room to help |
| promote the development of your child such as soft |
| play area, block area, musical instruments, heuristic play, |
| activity areas, soft mat & reading areas. A sleep room is also |
| located beside the junior wobbler room which has 9 beds: all children |
| have their own bed, sheet and blanket which is supplied, cleaned and stored in the Creche. |
| |
| Little Apples has a range of buggies-triple, double and single and the children are taken for regular walks around the |
| |
| |
Our Wobbler rooms are bright and airy with stimulating environments such as |
| |
photographs of the children at play and samples of their work for Mams/Dads and |
| |
All areas in the rooms encourage independence so that the children can take |
| |
some responsibility for themselves. Presentation of activities and the way |
| |
that they are set up are essential, each day the Careworkers in the room |
| |
spend time carefully planning and preparing for each activity. The |
| |
curriculum followed by the children is enjoyable and allows for |
| |
spontaneity whilst at the same time supporting every childs individual |
| |
learning needs and stage of development. |
| |
All children have their own bed, sheet and blanket which is supplied, cleaned and stored |
| |
| The Toddler rooms have a variety of layouts to include home corners, construction |
| areas, sands, book corners and tabletop areas. |
| These are very busy rooms as the children get to grips with the theme |
| that they are learning about that week. Here the children start learning |
| about basic concepts such as colours, numbers, letters as well as |
| continuing the theme based learning which they started in the Wobbler |
| room such as animals, nature, the world around us, peoples jobs etc. |
| At this stage of the childs development he/she is becoming more creative in |
| their activities and their language skills are really beginning to emerge. Our childcare |
| workers deal with toddlers in a sympathetic manner, handling their early social & emotional development very |
| carefully, guiding their cognitive awareness and stimulating their physical accomplishments. |
| |
| |
As well as following a Pre-school curriculum, the children also do a |
| |
Montessori session every day. The combination of these learning |
| |
strategies has proved to be an excellent combination both for the |
| |
childs development and the enjoyment that they experience in the |
| |
group. Each week a different letter, colour, shape and theme is |
| |
covered with children as well as a wide variety of arts & crafts, |
| |
music & movement and outdoor play. |
| |
Other areas covered are personal and social development, |
| |
language, pre-reading skills, maths, art & creativity, computers, |
| |
Irish, nature studies, the world around them and their physical development. |
